Sahadev Rao Tapkire

Sahadev Rao Tapkire was an accomplished Make-up Artist in the Indian film industry. He was born at Nashik in 1909. His film journey started in 1919, when Dadasaheb Phalke required some kids to act in his film Kaliya Mardan (1919). He worked in Phalke’s films and some plays doing some small roles but get established as Make-up Artist in coming years. As a make-up artist, Tapkire worked across languages in Marathi, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Tamil films. His association with Gemini Studio and filmmaker S.S. Vasan stands distinct.

Bapu Watve was a renowned author on subjects relating to cinema, and studious researcher. He is known for books like “Ek Hoti Prabhat Nagari”, “Bhartiya Charitramala: Dadasaheb Phalke” and “Bhartiya Cinemache Janak”.
