Baburao Patil

Born on 3rd July 1914, Baburao Patil began working in films in very early age. He was a close confidant of Dadasaheb Phalke, the Father of Indian Cinema. At the age of five, Patil worked in Phalke’s Kaliya Mardan (1919) as an extra. Credit to his well-built body, he appeared in several films for many years in his career. He was also in the extra cast of Ganga Jamuna (1961), starring Dilip Kumar in the leading role.

This interview was conducted by Bapu Watve on 27th May 1987 while Baburao Patil was 73.
Bapu Watve was a renowned author on subjects relating to cinema, and studious researcher. He is known for books like “Ek Hoti Prabhat Nagari”, “Bhartiya Charitramala: Dadasaheb Phalke” and “Bhartiya Cinemache Janak”.
