Narayan Tambat
Narayan Madhavji Tambat Kansar
Narayan Tambat Kansar was a multifaceted artist in the early days of Indian cinema. Born on October 29th 1908, he started his film journey with “Hindustan Cinema Films Company" of Dadasaheb Phalke and Waman Apte. Employed as Assistant Store Keeper there, Tambat used to work in different departments of film making while his tenure with “Hindustan Cinema Films Company". Also appeared as an actor in few films, Tambat mostly worked as a make-up master at various productions and major filmmakers. Spending long association with Dadasaheb Phalke, he credits so much to Phalke for his achievements.
This interview was conducted by Bapu Watve on 26th May 1987 at Nasik while Narayan Madhavji Tambat Kansar was 79.
Bapu Watve was a renowned author on subjects relating to cinema, and studious researcher. He is known for books like “Ek Hoti Prabhat Nagari”, “Bhartiya Charitramala: Dadasaheb Phalke” and “Bhartiya Cinemache Janak”.
