Shobha Sen

Born in September 1923, Shobha Sen was a well-known personality in Bengali films and theatre. Sen was associated with Peoples’ Theatre Group. She acted in noted plays like Nabanna and Barricade, while working in films she collaborated with noted filmmakers like Mrinal Sen, Ritwik Ghatak, Basu Chatterjee and Gautam Ghose. Sen charmed the screen with her powerful performances for nearly seven decades, her notable films include Ek Adhuri Kahan (1972), Thagini (1974) and Ek Din Pratidin (1979). She was married to legendary actor Utpal Dutt.
