Yashwant Pethkar

Born in May 1913, Yeshwant Pethkar is a well-known filmmaker from Indian cinema. Starting from the late 40s, he was actively working for nearly four decades. He made successful Marathi films like Molkarin (1963), Soon Ladki Hya Gharchi (1972) and Sant Namdeo (1991) during his prolific career. In early days Pethkar also made few Hindi films and worked with popular stars like Dev Anand and Khurshid Bano in Aage badho (1947), Madhubala and Pran in Apradhi (1949), Geeta Bali in Shadi Ki Raat (1950) and Sau Ka Note (1955).

Bapu Watve was a renowned author on subjects relating to cinema, and studious researcher. He is known for books like “Ek Hoti Prabhat Nagari”, “Bhartiya Charitramala: Dadasaheb Phalke” and “Bhartiya Cinemache Janak”.
