S. V. Sahasranamam
A renowned personality in Tamil theatre and cinema, S. V. Sahasranamam was born in November 1913. In a very young age, he joined due to his interest in stage acting, he joined T. K. S. Nataka Sabha and later went on to start his own theatre group ‘Seva Stage”. His plays were later adapted into feature films and were commercially successful. Since his debut in Tamil cinema in the mid-1930s, he entertained the audience for nearly five decades till 80s in different roles as an actor, director and producer. This interview was conducted by Randor Guy on 26th & 27th April 1985 at the residence of S. V. Sahasranamam at Royapettah, Madras while he was 72. Madabhushi Rangadorai, fondly known as Randor Guy is a well-known author, columnist and film historian, and also a lawyer by profession. He has written books like “Memories of Madras: Its Movies, Musicians & Men of Letters”, “A History of Tamil Cinema”, “Starlight, Starbright: The Early Tamil Cinema”. Guy has also written fiction novels like “Chaya” and “Kasi”.
