Born in May 1907, Vijay Bhatt was renowned director, producer, and screenwriter in Indian cinema. Beginning his career as a playwright, Bhatt entered into the world of cinema as a writer in the silent era. He carved a niche for himself with epic Ramayana extravaganzas like Bharat Milap (1942), Ram Rajya (1943), and Rambaan (1948). His classic dramas incorporating legends of Indian classical music such as Baiju Bawra (1952) and Goonj Uthi Shehnai (1959) are remembered as important contributions to Indian cinema.
