T.S. Karibasaiah and Gubbi Shivananda:

T.S. Karibasaiah was one of the pioneering figures of Kannada cinema and shareholder in celebrated Kanteerava Studios, a film studio in Bangalore, Karnataka. A multifaceted personality apart from being producer, director and studio owner, Karibasaiah also acted on stage and in Kannada films. His noted productions include popular films like Anna Thangi (1958) and Rani Honnamma (1960). His association with Gubbi Veeranna was also noted, he acted in several plays of Gubbi Company.

Gubbi Shivananda is a son of Gubbi Veeranna, one of the pioneering personality Kannada theatre. Veeranna established ‘Gubbi Veeranna Nataka Company’ which played a crucial role in promoting Kannada theatre widely.

In this interview, Gubbi Shivananda talks about the celebrated work of his father. Interestingly, Shivananda is pass out of the first batch of National School of Drama, Delhi.
