Vasant Shinde:
Born in 1912, Vasant Shinde was a renowned actor in Marathi cinema. He was especially popular for his comedy roles. Shinde started his career at Dadasaheb Phalke’s Hindustan Film Company during the mid-1920s, working in different departments of film making. His first acting role came in Chaturthicha Chandra (1925), portraying Lord Ganpati on-screen. Since then in his illustrious career, he acted in noted films like Pedgavche Shahane (1952), Gulacha Ganpati (1953), Mohityanchi Manjula (1963) and Manacha Mujra (1969).
This interview was conducted by Bapu Watve on 30th March 1985 at Film & Television Institute of India while Vasant Shinde was 73.
Bapu Watve was a renowned author on subjects relating to cinema, and studious researcher. He is known for books like “Ek Hoti Prabhat Nagari”, “Bhartiya Charitramala: Dadasaheb Phalke” and “Bhartiya Cinemache Janak”.
