Chittaranjan Kolhatkar

Born in January 1923, Chittaranjan Kolhatkar was a prominent Marathi film and theatre actor. Starting in the mid-1940s, he worked in more than fifty films and several successful plays. Though he performed roles with all shades, his characters in antagonistic tones were more popular.
Working with noted filmmakers like Raja Paranjpe, Datta Dharmadhikari and Bhalji Pendharkar, he acted in successful films like Pedgaonche Shahane (1952), Saubhagya (1953), Reshmachya Gaathi (1954), Vaibhav (1963) and Mohityanchi Manjula (1963). Also active in theatre, Kolhatkar appeared in iconic Marathi plays such as Ashroonchi Zhali Phule, Bhavbandhan and Ekach Pyala.

This interview was conducted by Bapu Watve in 1987 while Chittaranjan Kolhatkar was 64.
