A S Nagarajan:

One of the veteran artists in Tamil cinema, Nagarajan had a prolific career in different parts of filmmaking. Started as an actor, he went on to become a successful screenwriter and filmmaker. His popular films include fantasy-drama Paasavalai (1956) and Sri Lankan film Mathalan (1955). Nagarajan wrote for the films like Valar Pirai (1962) and Karnan (1964), starring well-known stars like Sivaji Ganesan and NT Rama Rao.

This interview was conducted by Randor Guy on January 21st, 1991 in Madras at Nagarajan’s residence in Thyagaraya Nagar.

Madabhushi Rangadorai, fondly known as Randor Guy is a well-known author, columnist and film historian, and also a lawyer by profession. He has written books like “Memories of Madras: Its Movies, Musicians & Men of Letters”, “A History of Tamil Cinema”, “Starlight, Starbright: The Early Tamil Cinema”. Guy has also written fiction novels like “Chaya” and “Kasi”.
