About the NFDC–NFAI Library
The National Film Development Corporation – National Film Archive of India (NFDC–NFAI) houses a well-stocked library of books and periodicals on cinema and its related arts. The library holds approximately 29,000 books on cinema published across the globe and more than 100 periodicals on cinema published in various Indian languages. Around 31,000 film scripts received from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) are also preserved here.
These form a valuable part of the Archive's collection, as many of the films are now untraceable. Censor records dating back to the 1920s and bound volumes of Indian film magazines from the 1930s onwards are among the important materials available for reference and study at the NFDC–NFAI Book Library.
The library extends its services to students, researchers, journalists, and others interested in cinema. Old periodicals, rare books, and scripts have been digitized for preservation and access.
